Expo Idaho is a year-round multipurpose facility offering car shows, flea markets and antique shows, gun shows, ski shows, weddings and much more. There is always something to attend.
The "Western Idaho Fair" is the 3rd week in August each year. Idaho's largest gathering of patrons is reflected in its 115th years of outstanding exhibits and entertainment.
The WIF celebrated MILK at its Crop of the year. The fair also recognized Idaho Farm families for the 2nd year, plus we held ag demos and contests along with a "passport to the fair". The goal was to visit all of our competitive departments and answer trivia questions. What better way for the community to learn and understand our agricultural industry?
The fair offers over 350 commercial vendors and 50+ food booths. Have you ever had deep fried pickles, a fried spud bar or a pork chop on a stick? These yummy treats were a great addition to our more traditional fair foods.
The 2012 fair sported free entertainment on the grounds; i.e., Knights of the Realm, Live Shark Encounter, Mountainboarding Big Air Show and more. The fair also showcased classic rock, country and Christian bands. Interactive entertainment such as meet the animals, the kids tractor pull and roving acts kept our fair hopping throughout the 10-day fair. Our grandstand lineup (also free with gate admission) was phenomenal. This six-year tradition has helped to steadily increase our attendance to 256,000!
Butler Amusements continues to offer quality rides for the entire family. We offered some free rides again this year on the last day of the fair plus numerous discounts all week.
This year the fair hosted an Armed Forces Day. An opening celebration kicked off the day with special events and displays. All active servicemen and women plus veterans were admitted free to the fair.
The fair also offered its 9th year of agricultural scholarships to FFA & 4-H members who participated in Western Idaho Fair programs. We know career planning is a journey and what better way to help our youth pursue a career in the agricultural industry.
